MSI Z68-GD80 G3, January 31, 2012
I am going to keep this review quite short. This motherboard is outstanding. Why? I am not a big “tweaker” / “overclocker” but it give you the ability to do that simply. Make sure that you update the BIOS to the newest version ASAP after install of Motherboard. It has an outstanding 5 year warranty but it requires submitting the information within thirty days of purchase. Plus it had a forty dollar rebate… I have RAIDED SSDs which went without a hitch and the OS boots up so very quickly. Wish it had a few more ports (USB 2.0 / 3.0) but I can change that by adding as I need. I really appreciate the quality of this item, MSI did a wonderful job!
EXCELLENT MOBO, January 23, 2012

seems fine after CMOS battery replacement, January 22, 2012
I spent hours trying to figure out why this board wouldn’t start up. Long story short, the CR2032 battery on the motherboard I received was completely dead. Apparently that caused it not to power up at all. After removing and re-seating all my components and the power plugs multiple times I finally decided to remove the CMOS battery and check it’s voltage. It read 0.08 Volts (should be 3 Volts) so it was completely drained. Went to the store and got a new Energizer CR2032 battery and now the motherboard starts up fine.Additional piece of info: This motherboard has a Power, Reset, and Overclock button on one edge of the board and now that the battery has been replaced, when the power supply is turned on the Power button on the board lights up (a blue color). I did not know that this button should be lighting up when the board is powered–so if you have this motherboard and the Power button isn’t lighting up when the board is powered there’s something wrong. I’m not sure I would have figured out the battery was the problem any sooner had I known this, but it’s good to know it should light up so maybe this info might help someone else.I’m not putting an in depth review of the board here because there are plenty of them at computer tech sites, new egg, etc. -marmil
